Carlsbad Academy Drama Director Dies
Mrs. W.C. Atkinson, Wife of School’s President, Came to Army-Navy in 1935
Mrs. William Currier Atkinson, 51, drama director at the Carlsbad Army & Navy Academy, and wife of the academy president, died yesterday in a local hospital.
Mrs. Atkinson, who came to the academy with her husband in 1935 from Lebanon, Tenn., was past president of the Oceanside Soroptimist Club.
In addition to her husband, Col. W.C. Atkinson, she is survived by two sons, William C. Atkinson, Jr., and James, both of Carlsbad, and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Gillespie, of Tacoma, Wash.
Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 10 a.m. in Berry Mortuary, Oceanside. Burial will be in Eternal Hills Cemetery, Oceanside. Bonhom Brothers Fourth Avenue Mortuary is in charge of local arrangements.
